Intro post - last updated December 2024

 

Hello there! :) My name is Florencia, I'm from Buenos Aires (Argentina). Born on October 6th 1991, I am currently 33 years-old and I'm a Libra, with Rising and Moon Virgo. I speak Spanish (obv lol), English and a bit of Japanese.

The Current Life

I'm currently working at Dentsu as a Paid Search Assosiate, doing SEM (Search Engine Optimization).
I love working out. I got obsessed with working out ever since my ex dumped me (as a way of relieving stress and not thinking about the break up), but it's grown into something more: a lifestyle.
Therefore I train hard, 5 days a week. I do weight lifting at the gym 3/week and pilates 2/week. I used to take body pump classes 5 days a week when I lived on my own, but quit when I moved back in with my mother due to the pandemic. Same with  krav maga.
I used to be a pseudo-influencer but got super tired of it and I’ve been recovering from really bad social media FOMO for the last 5 years I’d say x_x.
I read a lot! My favorite genres are self-help and YA.

The Family

I moved out on my own on February 2019 which is the best decision I've EVER made, but I sadly had to move back in in August 2020 to my mom's because of Covid.
My parents got divorced (not legally though) in 2009, but they are not back together. We all live under the same roof.
I have a stray dog we adopted from the streets called Kea, and a tuxedo cat called Silvestre Guantes.
I have an uncle but I don’t really talk much to him.
My family is quite small: mom, dad, grandma (from mom’s side), uncle and aunt. The rest of my grandmas and grandpas passed away when I was very little. No cousins as well.
I quit social media in May 2024. I was getting too sick of it!
As of September 2024, I live in the house at the back of my parent's place, which used to be my grandma's. No, she's not dead lol. She just moved in in the front with my mom since she now needs assistance 24/7. The same month I moved in, my boyfriend, Nicolas, moved in as well.

The Friends

I haven’t spoken to 3 of my dearest friends in a long time, but I still consider them part of my life somehow? I’m talking aboutSae, Fuuey and Umi. The 3 of them are Swedish, living in Sweden. Sae specially has been with me through my worst, and I know I can count on them even if we don’t talk extensively every day.
I met the 3 of them on LJ in 2010!
I met Sae face-to-face for the first time in October 2015, in South Korea.
And I met Umi and Fuuey face-to-face in June 2017, when I visited Stockholm for the first time. Then I saw the 3 of them again back in June 2018.
I don't mention them that often, but I do love my former boss's daughters a lot (Ariel). Guillermina is turning 15 this year; she's closest to me and it's ridiculous just how many of my habits she picked up ever since she was a baby. Her sister Francisca is 13 years-old and she's closer to my mother. They're all living abroad in Spain and have been since 2022.
I also have some friends scattered here and there in Discord groups, LOL groups, etc.
I am part of a creative Patreon community called La Baumhaus and I love everyone there!
From that community I met Coty and Valen, friends from a mastermind group we started months and months ago.

 

The Love

Nicolas (Nico for short and I also call him bae) is my 3 years boyfriend. We met through a Discord server in 2020 but never really had feelings for each other until February 2021 XD. He lives far from me (2hs bus) and he is 2 years younger. We're inseparable <333.


The Travels

I love traveling! I’ve done quite a fair amount of traveling from 2014 to 2018, both for personal vacations and for work.
For work, I’ve been 6 times to New York, 1 to Miami and 1 to Madrid. I’ve also been a lot to Paraguay and Uruguay, but considering these trips were more frequent, I honestly lost count!
For personal vacays, I’ve been to Seoul (South Korea) once, and twice to both London (UK) and Stockholm (Sweden).

The Education

I have a Bachelors in Fashion Design. I studied at a not so recognized university and tbh I kind of regret my decision. If you were to ask me nowadays, I would have studied Marketing.
I tried getting into Digital Marketing and became a Community Manager, but then again I started working as one and didn't like it. So I took another leap and started studying UX/UI Design. So far I'm loving it!
I have a newsletter, but unfortunately for you it’s in Spanish 🙁

What I love to do

Fashion. I love dressing up and coming up with outfits in a fun way. I like to have fun with clothes so usually my style is pretty chaotic/eclectic. I seem to have two different alter egos for dressing up. I'm either a frilly, floral prints and lace princess, or a rocker girl.
Writing. Of course. Writing is healing to me, especially when I write about something I care about.
Shopping. Can't lie to you! I love shopping and spending money on clothes, but I’m trying to control this habit ♥.
Traveling. There's nothing more significant in my life than getting to know new places and re-discovering old ones.
Photography. Granted, I haven't studied my DSRL camera that much, but I do enjoy taking photos of pretty much everything.
Nerding. Because yes, that’s a thing. I love studying! I love reading about history (especially fashion history), books of philosophy, psychology and sociology. Whatever makes the critical side of my brain get activated, is welcome. I love studying languages as well, as you must have seem from my extensive list of learnt languages!
Training. I can't really call it "working out" anymore XD. I train around 14 hours a week 😱 I love it and it's quite therapeutic for me. It helps to keep my anxiety levels at a comfortable degree. I also love meditating.
I like playing Genshin Impact, League of Legends and Cozy Grove.

The Fandom

I’m not highly invested in fandom, but the only one I’m always active about is being a Potterhead. I’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I’ve been to the Warner Bros Studio tour in London twice and I can’t wait to go again! I re-read all the books at least once a year, and I have as much merch as a nerdy girl can get.
My top 3 favorite movies are How To Train Your Dragon, The Secret Garden (1993) and Alice in Wonderland (1999).
I love k-pop. My favorite band is SHINee and then I like EXO and BTS a lot these days. I listen to some really oldies as well; the list is extensive!
My favorite k-pop artist is obv Kibum (Key) ♥. I love his style and personality!
My favorite non-korean artist is Lady Gaga. I also like Marina and the Diamonds, Lana del Rey and Melanie Martinez as well!
I’m a hardcore bookworm. Even though I don’t have as much time to read these days, and obviously can’t make it past the 24 books challenge mark on GoodReads, I still love buying books and reading them whenever I can.
I’m a huge F1 fan as of recently :P It all started out with the TV series Drive To Survive and my Google coworkers who got me into it.

Is there an interesting story behind your username?
It’s really in the past, but basically I made a mix of “jeune fille” which was the name of the guitar of Mana’s Moi Dix Mois and the word “fleur” because it means “flower” and… my name is “Flor” 💐🤷🏼‍♀️.

Location and language(s):
I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina and I (sadly) still live here. You will realize through my entries that I hate my country and its people XD. My native language is Spanish but, as you can read, I’m very fluent in English.

30s.

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
I guess the same as most people I’ve friended: no -phobics of any kind, anti-vaxxers or racists. I also have a particular issue with non-empaths who can’t put themselves into other people’s shoes. It also really bothers me when people living in Europe or the US can’t get how terrible things are in Argentina. People outside of Latinamerica don’t know a thing about how hard everything is and it really pisses me off. We have 60% inflation every year, so yeah, telling me that I should save up or that I can ‘easily’ move abroad seems like a really insensitive thing to say to me.
Also probably not being super active. Like, if you post only once a month and never comment, I will probably forget about you and who you are :c

Is your profile up to date or at all useful?
I don’t really use my profile, so no XD. My intro post is the most up to date.

List a few things you think it’s important new friends know about you right away:
That I have anxiety? I don’t know XD. Nothing about me is like “ooh they MUST know this!”.

You mostly write about:
My life with pictures and the occasional video. I try to make it fun.

You never or very rarely write about:
Fandoms or any form of entertainment. I usually don’t have much to say in that regard.

Strictly Friends Only.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g., fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
No, not at all.

Your posting frequency (e.g., daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
Once a week, but if life offline gets really tough, every 2 weeks or once a month. But I read my friends entries multiple times a week ♥.

Only photos and some videos of my own.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?
As much as I say I don’t read back on things I’ve written before, I like the idea of documenting my life in case I want to remember stuff. And, quite frankly, it’s super useful for my annual review. I can just go back on what happened/what I did/what I was thinking back in that year and voilá!

How often do you read your friends list (e.g., daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
About 4-5 times a week.

You really enjoy reading about:
Your life! I want to know your daily doingssss. If you post pictures I’ll looove you because I’m a super visual person and remember people mostly for the photos they show.

You have very little interest in reading about:
Fandom :P It’s just that I’m generally not up to date so it really makes me feel left out. Like, if you only post about fandom stuff then I’ll never have something to say!

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc.?
Uninterested unless it’s their own pictures about their lives.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more—quality or quantity?
Always quality <333.

Do you unfriend people who don’t comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
No, not really! Unless I haven’t heard from you in a year XD.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
I usually comment when I have something to say, but if I haven’t said anything in a while (I do notice), I try to leave at least a little something to let you know I’m reading you.

When you friend someone, but things don’t really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
I usually don’t let people know because I feel like it’s an implicit thing. I expect people to do the same with me LOL. If someone asks, I do tell them why, but it usually doesn’t happen.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren’t things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about—not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?
I am so bad at listing things because my memory is really poor, but you could say I like fantasy and that’s probably the most relevant thing about me in terms of TV shows and movies. Realities? Mmmhn… it depends. The only one I care for is Drag Race, and then just binge-watch stuff on Netflix.

Any final thoughts you’d like to share with new friends?
